Shazam review by Lucas Lorran from Corvo do Rei.
Shazam! And just like the young Billy becomes the powerful and immature Shazam, we easily fall in love with the newest hero of the theaters. Shazam is simple, clear and funny. The whole cast is incredible, and you will like in some way. Asher Angel got people’s admiration even he has been fleeing and cold, but his story explains his attitudes, and as the plot develops, we want to see him well. Zachary Levi was exceptional as the irresponsible adult Shazam must be. A hero worthy of entertaining the whole family in the Sessão da Tarde, his charisma and dedication to the character leave us satisfied. I need to mention Faithe Herman, the sweet Darla Dudley steals any scene in which she appears. It is necessary only 5 minutes of her speech and you agree that she is the best character in this movie. The development of Shazam is brief and follows a rhythm that anyone can accompanies, and as we can know more about the whole story, even if some scenes are poorly developed (when Billy is taken to the temple of the wizard Shazam. It lacked emotion and realism in that scene, which ends when you are still understanding the situation). My biggest movie’s criticism is about the villain that got hidden behind the seven deadly sins. It is not a villain who causes fear when he appears but is completely invisible in action. Missed speech, lacked to make people hate him. But the link between the villain and the hero’s background lets us tolerate such error. In short, Shazam exceeded my expectations in many aspects: the film contains jokes in time and right level; the story is not drawn, even if it takes Billy too long to understand who he is; there is a great scene that left me breathtaking, and who has read the comics and knows the saga Shazam will looove it (!!!) DC produced his second good movie in sequence, and it was grateful. Let's hope that DC heroes gain more depth now and that the directors stop saturating heroism by taking nature out of the characters. Can not the character stand up or look around without slow motion, no wind in his hair, an action song, and a
sentence like "I'm a fucking hero"! Watch Shazam! Take the kids, the whole family, it's worth the experience and the message of the film is slight and inspiring.
